Digital Photo Service Launched

Client Meetings

Within the last few months, ERIS has hosted several "Meet and Greets" with a number of clients.  It has been great to put faces to names and meet our valued customers in person.  Many discussions have led to productive talks on not only ERIS’ current service, but also on how ERIS can help clients conform to the newly proposed RSC regulations.  Some clients have expressed an interest in an ERIS RSC package that would incorporate a set group of products at a fixed price.  Others would prefer an “à la carte” service whereby they can choose only the products they require for their sites.

Tell us your opinion! We want your feedback!  Please take a minute to complete the attached survey.  It will only take a few minutes of your time and the information provided will ensure that ERIS can provide the best service possible to its clients...

Upcoming Events

Here is a list of some of the events ERIS will be attending this spring.  Please stop by and see us if you plan to attend any of these events.

April 20-21 ERIS will be at the Canadian Environmental Conference & Tradeshow (CANECT) at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto. Since 1992, CANECT has been the foremost event for Canadian environmental managers, plant personnel, government policy-makers, lawyers and consultants with responsibilities for environmental affairs.  See ERIS in Booth #2107.

April 29  ERIS will be participating at the 9th Annual Environment Industry Day (EID), held at Queen's Park each year by the Ontario Environment Industry Association (ONEIA). This year's theme is "Ontario's Environment Industry – Open for (Green) Business." EID offers environmental firms the opportunity to meet MPPs and Ministers throughout the day and discuss environmental issues with senior staff from various ministries at the afternoon roundtables.  We hope to see you at the evening reception if not earlier in the day.

On May 27 we are holding the first session of the Brownfields Marketplace – Breakfast Summit at the Crowne Plaza in Ottawa. This session will concentrate on the new Ontario brownfield regulations 153/04 and their effect on the industry. Tickets are $65.00. For more information or to register, visit our website or contact Simuoko Frayne, Conference Coordinator at 416-510-6867.

Aerial Sample

Last month ERIS launched a new digital air photo service.  ERIS now offers digital photos at $30 each on a 7-business day turnaround. Many of our customers have taken advantage of this new service and the feedback has been very positive.  When digital air photos are ordered, an ERIS representative diligently researches and compiles a list of available photos for the site in question, thus giving clients the flexibility to select the years and scales that are most useful to them. Next time you order aerial photos, try the digital aerial service.

ERIS Profile: Diana Saccone, System & Data Mgr

As lead system and data manager, Diana Saccone began her career at ERIS in 1999 as a report analyst. After earning an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto in Environment and Resource Management in 1998, Diana worked on community based projects at the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority before joining the company.

Her work experience coupled with further education in geographic and spatial analysis allowed Diana to excel at ERIS. She quickly became the lead in pioneering the collection of original data for Atlantic Canada, facilitating the adoption of coast to coast coverage, and the launch of the Self-Serve Instant Report in November 2001. As ERIS expanded its service nationwide, Diana became increasingly involved in the technical side of database management, including data input and standardization, and was key in rebuilding the ERIS reporting system.

Today, Diana is responsible for managing the ERIS website and reporting system. She maintains ERIS’ 440 environmentally-related databases and recently finished two major projects, including the re-design of the ERIS Management System and the re-design of the ERIS website. Constantly seeking to create a better ERIS-user experience, Diana is now working with the IT and accounting departments to help streamline invoicing and improve client web functionality.

Americana 2009

On March 17 to 19, Joan Hagerman, Account Manager, and Isabel Pereira, Regional Services Manager, attended the Americana International Trade Show 2009 at the Palais des congrès in Montréal, QC.  The event was held over 2 and a half days and featured seminars and sessions on environmental management, business opportunities, air and climate change, solid waste and groundwater, to name a few.  A large international presence was felt with representatives from several different countries such as Belgium, France and the Netherlands.  A large contingent from Québec, Ontario and Saskatchewan was also in attendance. Companies representing a diverse array of the environmental industry attended showcasing the latest innovation in water and soil remediation and technology.  The Americana 2009 Trade Show was a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas with current and future clients.  With over 400 exhibitors, 175 conferences and 10,000 participants, the event was a great success.  Special mention goes out to Desseau, Sanexen, Stabilis, le Groupe C. Laganière, Spheratest and Ventix Environnement for the great discussions.

The Big Deal 2009

ERIS participated in The Big Deal 2009 - the National Brownfield Association's event in Phoenix, Arizona, March 24 and 25. Mark Mattei, Research and Development Manager, represented ERIS. "It was a great way to showcase our products to many American companies involved in brownfield remediation and redevelopment" said Mattei. ERIS showcased Canadian products and services, while a few steps away, EDR (Environmental Data Resources Inc.) promoted similar products for the US markets. Special mention to Derek Ezovski, Managing Director at EDR, for his support. There were also several Canadian companies at the conference, such as Andrew Panko of Associated Brownfields, a speaker at one of the sessions, and Denise Lacchin from MTE Consultants Inc. Many of the sessions were well attended and ERIS made many new contacts as visitors examined the companies on the exhibit floor.
