EcoLog Environmental Risk Information Services Ltd can search the following databases. The extent of historical information varies with each database and current information is determined by what is publicly available to EcoLog ERIS at the time of update.

Provincial Government Source Databases:

CAACertificates of Approval – AIR 1993-2010

The Fisheries, Aquaculture and Environment Branch maintains an inventory of all approvals issued for Incinerators, Fuel Burning Equipment, Used Oil Burner's, and Industrial Source's under Section 25 of the EPA. Our database provides information on the approval number, owner/operator, location, approval type, approval description, approval effective date and expiry date.

CAWCertificates of Approval – Sewage & Waterworks 1991-2010

The Fisheries, Aquaculture and Environment Branch maintains an inventory of all approvals issued for Sewage & Waterworks under the "Water and Sewerage Act" and section 3, 13, 16 and 28 of the EPA. Our database provides information on the approval number, Applicant/Utility, Engineering Firm project description and approval effective date. Please note that further information may be obtained regarding the "project cost" and "conditions of approval" – please contact the office.

FISHCommercial Fisheries 1999-May 2009

The Fisheries and Aquaculture Branch of the Ministry of Environment maintains a directory of provincially and federally licensed fish processing plants. The database provides information on company/brand name, location, license type (provincial/federal/hatchery) and product type.

FSTFuel Storage Tanks 1940-Jul 2009

As of 1988, "The Petroleum Products Act" stipulates that every retailer and wholesaler of petroleum products must be licenced with the provincial government. Previous to this date, petroleum tanks were not registered and information was only entered into the database as tanks were either removed or discovered. This database provides information on the site id & tag number, location, system owner/operator, landowner, tank installation & removal date, capacity, tank/pipe material & type, tank protection, and status.

GENWaste Generators Summary Jul 1986-Jul 2009

As of April 3rd, 2004, the EPA's Waste Resource Management Regulation requires all hazardous waste generating locations to register their respective company with the province. Previous to this date, waste-generating facilities within the province voluntarily informed the government as to the type of waste being produced. This database contains information in regard to the registered company, site location, registration number, and does not provide waste descriptions. Neither the province of PEI or EcoLog ERIS can vouch for the reliability of the information supplied.

HHTHome Heat Fuel Tanks 1988-Apr 2011

As of June 16th, 2001, home heat tank installation and replacement is regulated under amendments to the Petroleum Storage Tanks Regulation. As of Sept 2006, all home heat tanks must be inspected and have a valid identification label. There are approximately 55,000 aboveground home heating tanks in the province of PEI; however, the current database contains an inventory of over 24,000 tanks. Please note that the database only contains information on heat tanks that have been inspected by a "Home Heat Tanks Inspector". As further tanks are inspected, the database will grow. This database provides information on the tank id & tag number, location, manufacturer name, tank manufacturer date & tank expiry date, tank serial number & location details, and inspection date.

POGWPrince Edward Island Oil and Gas Exploratory Wells 1944-Jun 2009

The Oil and Natural Gas Act regulates the exploration and development of Oil and Natural Gas Resources in PEI. As Prince Edwards Island's hydrocarbon potential has yet to be fully assessed, only sixteen exploratory wells and one re-entry well has been drilled on and around the province. This database provides information on the drill date, well name, well operator, total depth and status.

RECWaste Receivers Summary Mar 1987-Jul 2009

Hazardous Waste Receivers within the province of PEI are only responsible for receiving PEI hazardous waste, until it can be transported to an off-Island receiver. As of April 3rd, 2004, the EPA's Waste Resource Management Regulation requires all waste receiving locations to register their respective company with the province. Previous to this date, waste-receiving facilities within the province voluntarily informed the government as to the type of waste they received. This database contains information in regard to the registered company, site location, registration number, and does not provide waste descriptions. Neither the province of PEI or EcoLog ERIS can vouch for the reliability of the information supplied.

WWISWater Well Information System 1970-Jul 2009

The Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Environment maintains an inventory of over 20,000 wells that have been drilled in the province of Prince Edward Island since approximately 1970. This database contains information in regard to the well location, serial number, well type, elevation, drilling company, drill completion date & method, well depth & diameter, well casing material and geographic coordinates in UTM. As most wells drilled previous to 2001 were georeferenced based on 1:50,000 map sheets, neither the province of PEI or EcoLog ERIS can vouch for the reliability of the information supplied. **Note that all well records were screened previous to implementation into the database, so as to remove those records with inaccurate coordinates. These records will be provided as unplottable records.

Federal Government Source Databases:

Environment Canada maintains a database referred to as the "Environmental Registry" that details prosecutions under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) and the Fisheries Act (FA). Information is provided on the company name, location, charge date, offence and penalty.

FCSContaminated Sites on Federal Land Jun 2000-Sep 2011

The Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat maintains an inventory of all known contaminated sites held by various Federal departments and agencies. This inventory does not include properties owned by Crown corporations, but does contain nonfederal sites for which the Government of Canada has accepted some or all financial responsibility. All sites have been classified through a system developed by the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment. The database provides information on company name, location, site ID #, property use, classification, current status, contaminant type and plan of action for site remediation.

Fisheries & Oceans Canada maintains an inventory of all aboveground & underground fuel storage tanks located on Fisheries & Oceans property or controlled by DFO. Our inventory provides information on the site name, location, tank owner, tank operator, facility type, storage tank location, tank contents & capacity, and date of tank installation.

IAFTIndian & Northern Affairs Fuel Tanks 1950-Aug 2003

The Department of Indian & Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) maintains an inventory of all aboveground & underground fuel storage tanks located on both federal and crown land. Our inventory provides information on the reserve name, location, facility type, site/facility name, tank type, material & ID number, tank contents & capacity, and date of tank installation.

NDFTNational Defence & Canadian Forces Fuel Tanks Up to May 2001*

The Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces maintains an inventory of all aboveground & underground fuel storage tanks located on DND lands. Our inventory provides information on the base name, location, tank type & capacity, tank contents, tank class, date of tank installation, date tank last used, and status of tank as of May 2001. This database will no longer be updated due to the new National Security protocols which have prohibited any release of this database.

NDSPNational Defence & Canadian Forces Spills Mar 1999-Aug 2010

The Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces maintains an inventory of spills to land and water. All spill sites have been classified under the "Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act - 1992". Our inventory provides information on the facility name, location, spill ID #, spill date, type of spill, as well as the quantity of substance spilled & recovered.

NEBWNational Energy Board Wells 1920-Feb 2003*

The NEBW database contains information on onshore & offshore oil and gas wells that are outside provincial jurisdiction(s) and are thereby regulated by the National Energy Board. Data is provided regarding the operator, well name, well ID No./UWI, status, classification, well depth, spud and release date. Data is not available after Feb 2003.

NPCBNational PCB Inventory 1988-2008

Environment Canada's National PCB inventory includes information on in-use PCB containing equipment in Canada including federal, provincial and private facilities. All federal out-of-service PCB containing equipment and all PCB waste owned by the federal government or by federally regulated industries such as airlines, railway companies, broadcasting companies, telephone and telecommunications companies, pipeline companies, etc. are also listed. Although it is not Environment Canada's mandate to collect data on non-federal PCB waste, the National PCB inventory includes some information on provincial and private PCB waste and storage sites.

NPRINational Pollutant Release Inventory 1993-2009

Environment Canada has defined the National Pollutant Release Inventory ("NPRI") as a federal government initiative designed to collect comprehensive national data regarding releases to air, water, or land, and waste transfers of 178 specified substances.

PCFTParks Canada Fuel Storage Tanks 1920-Jan 2005

Canadian Heritage maintains an inventory of all known fuel storage tanks operated by Parks Canada, in both National Parks and at National Historic Sites. The database details information on site name, location, tank install/removal date, capacity, fuel type, facility type, tank design and owner/operator.

TCFTTransport Canada Fuel Storage Tanks 1970- Mar 2007

Within the provinces of BC, MB, NB, NF, ON, PE, and QC; Transport Canada currently owns and operates 90 fuel storage tanks. Our inventory provides information on the site name, location, tank age, capacity and fuel type.

Private Source Databases:

AUWRAutomobile Wrecking & Supplies 2001-Jun 2010

This database provides an inventory of all known locations that are involved in the scrap metal, automobile wrecking/recycling, and automobile parts & supplies industry. Information is provided on the company name, location and business type.

CHEMChemical Register 2000-Jun 2010

This database includes a listing of locations of facilities within Prince Edward Island that either manufacture and/or distribute chemicals.

EHSERIS Historical Searches 1999-Sep 2011

EcoLog ERIS has compiled a database of all environmental risk reports completed since March 1999. Available fields for this database include: site location, date of report, type of report, and search radius. As per all other databases, the ERIS database can be referenced on both the map and "Statistical Profile" page.

OGWOil and Gas Wells 1988-Dec 2011

The Nickle's Energy Group (publisher of the Daily Oil Bulletin) collects information on drilling activity including operator and well statistics. The well information database includes name, location, class, status and depth. The main Nickles' database is updated on a daily basis, however, this database is updated on a monthly basis. More information is available at www.nickles.com.

RSTRetail Fuel Storage Tanks 2000-Jun 2010

This database includes an inventory of known fuel outlet locations (including marinas) that have on their property gasoline, waste oil, natural gas and/or gas propane storage tanks.

SCTScott's Manufacturing Directory 2000-Mar 2011

Scott's Directories is a data bank containing information on over 1000 manufacturers in Prince Edward Island. Even though Scott's listings are voluntary, it is the most comprehensive database of Prince Edward Island manufacturers available. Information concerning a company's address, plant size, and main products are included in this database.
