RemTech
2010
In October 2010, ERIS had the pleasure of exhibiting at the Remediation
Technologies Symposium or RemTech 2010 in breathtaking Banff Springs,
Alberta. The well-attended event featured such keynote speakers as Patrick
Sean Wells from Suncor Energy, Michael Keating from the Calgary Zoo, and
Robert Swan, a polar explorer, environmental leader and the first person
ever to have walked to the North and South Poles. In addition to attending
the event, the ERIS team had the opportunity to meet with a number of its
clients from Alberta in the days preceding the show as well as during the
event itself.
A special thanks to all those who dropped by the booth to say hello.
RPIC -
“Innovating in Today’s Environment”
On November 23-25, 2010, ERIS exhibited at RPIC’s 2010 National Workshop –
“Innovating in Today’s Environment,” which was held at the Metro Toronto
Convention Centre in Toronto, ON. The focus, this year, was on innovative
approaches to real property management in support of the federal
government’s plans and priorities. Topics that were covered included
sustainability, clean energy, planning and investment. The event provided an
excellent opportunity for the
ERIS team to speak with a number of federal
bureaucrats and promote the service to a new market.

2010 saw
the launch of the Brownfields Marketplace Breakfast Summit Series - a series
of morning seminars that explore relevant and timely issues related to
brownfields and the remediation process. In addition to being the source of
essential information and learning, the seminars foster important debate and
discussion, and offer a chance for environmental professionals to come
together and network.
These Breakfast Seminars in 2010 were held in major centres across Canada,
including Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax. Each city played
host to speakers and issues relevant to their respective markets, with
topics that ranged from the impact of regulatory amendments on the
remediation of sites, municipal funding for redevelopment projects, to
issues pertaining to remediating sites such as service stations and city
waterfronts.
The inaugural year of this cross-country tour was so successful that we are
expanding the Breakfasts to half-day events, which will now be known as the
Brownfields Summit Series. Seminars for the 2011 series are planned for
Edmonton, Regina, Toronto and Halifax, and will be more in-depth, featuring
greater involvement with local associations and governments, providing
attendees with new, fresh perspectives on the issues they face. Plus, we are
excited to present a brand new event: The International Sites & Spills EXPO
at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, on October 11-13, 2011.
Look for more information on this event in January, 2011 or
